Speaker Bio:

Alexandra Cadena is a movement designer, director, and producer whose work has premiered at the Yale School of Drama, the New York International Fringe Festival, the Ars Nova Festival and the Corkscrew Theatre Festival. She graduated with distinction from Yale with a degree in Theatre Studies. Her thesis work focused on dramatherapy and movement design for the performer and non-performer. She received training at the Yale Summer Acting Conservatory as well as in Austria’s IUGTE program under the tutelage of the Ostrenko brothers. She is a resident instructor at Next Actor Studios (NAS) in Houston, TX where she teaches on film acting classes to teens, kids, and young adults. Alex also teaches voice classes at NAS and does private voice tutorials in Alexander Technique for local Houston residents. She has served as an arts educator for five years, teaching seminars in theatre far and wide from Yale to the National University of Singapore, to Houston’s Main Street Theatre. In addition, to being a voice instructor and acting teacher Alex is an accomplished producer. Her company, AC Productions, works primarily in the music video industry and has collaborated with artists represented by PIAS records and NNA Tapes. Alex’s upcoming work includes the production of an off-Broadway play at NYC’s The Paradise Factory called The End of Mermaids, and you can catch some of her short film work/productions at this year’s South by Southwest Festival and SENE Film Festival.
